BPJPH Asks Stakeholders To Unite In Strengthening The Halal Product Ecosystem

JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) Afriansyah Noor invites all relevant stakeholders to collaborate across sectors to strengthen the ecosystem of sustainable and export-oriented halal products.

"All ministries and institutions must unite to concentrate on how we can save our people, the majority of whom are Muslims from incoming products, especially from foreign countries, so it's halal, not just as a marketing tool," Afriansyah said quoting Antara.

Furthermore, he also highlighted the various challenges faced by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the development of halal products, including limited understanding, access and competitiveness.

Therefore, he emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral synergy so that halal MSMEs can grow as well as penetrate the export market.

In addition, Afriansyah also reminded MSME actors, that halal certification should not only be seen as an administrative instrument.

"In addition, as part of a strategic effort to protect the community and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products," he said.

On the other hand, government support at the central and regional levels is inseparable.

According to the Head of the Riau Islands Bank Indonesia Representative Office, Rony Widijarto Purubaskoro, his party continues to encourage the strengthening of the halal ecosystem through various concrete steps involving business actors, financial institutions, and universities.

The steps that have been taken by BI in supporting this collaboration include increasing literacy and mentoring of halal certification, developing a halal ecosystem and its value chains ranging from business actors, banking, universities, digitizing to market halal products, as well as facilitating more efficient access to financing.

"With that, the potential for foreign tourism is also expected to be able to enjoy various kinds of Indonesian halal products," said Rony.

"Through this activity, it is hoped that business actors will gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of halal certification, branding strategies, and innovations needed to increase product competitiveness," he added.
