There Is A Disturbance, Telkom Accelerates Recovering The Sorong-Merauke Sea Cable System

JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) (TLKM) ensures the acceleration of the recovery of the Sulawesi "Maluku" submarine cable system (SMCCS) for the Sorong 'Merauke section which is disrupted at two points.

The initial stage of improvement is targeted to be completed no later than the first week of September 2025, before continuing with a permanent stage to restore the quality of communication services.

"Currently, the special repair ship is in Wakatobi waters to the point of disturbance," said SVP Group Sustainability and Corporate Communication Telkom Ahmad Reza quoting Antara.

He said that TelkomGroup had opened the Merah Putih Command Post located in Komdigi, Merauke Regency, Merauke BPKD Office, and Merauke Police Office.

TelkomGroup has also prepared a compensation mechanism for customers affected by the disturbance, including an extension of the prepaid card's active period without filling in the quota assistance pulse of 1,000 SMS packages.

"The cost of SMS Rp1 through UMB *888*20 # is accessed once a day during the period of disruption. After recovery, Telkomsel distributes data quota compensation for customers in affected areas," he said.

For IndiHome customers, he said, a profitable discount was given according to the duration of the decrease in service quality.

Meanwhile, corporate customers (B2B) also receive compensation in accordance with applicable regulations.

TelkomGroup hopes for support from the entire community so that the implementation of improvement efforts runs without obstacles, so that communication services return to normal and stable as before.
