Losing Your ID Card, Prospective Train Passengers Can Still Travel

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 1 Jakarta said prospective passengers can still travel by train even though the Identity Card (KTP) is missing.

"During the boarding process, customers can also show other official identities that have photos, such as a driving license (SIM), passport, or official similar documents," said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager, Ixfan Hendriwintoko quoting Antara.

He said that KAI has now implemented the "Face Recognition Boarding Gate" system at a number of large stations.

With this facility, prospective registered passengers can scan their faces to be able to enter the platform directly without the need to show a ticket and physical identity.

"If there is no face recognition service at the departure station, then customers can board using the first method, namely showing a valid replacement identity document," said Ixfan.

Meanwhile, when booking tickets, prospective passengers whose ID cards are missing only need to include a Population Identification Number (NIK) on the Family Card (KK).

KAI also continues to be committed to providing safe, easy, and comfortable services for all customers, including by utilizing digital transformation in the service system.

He appealed to people who use trains to use facilities at stations and on trains wisely for mutual comfort.

These appeals include not smoking and vaping in prohibited areas, but only in special places that have been provided at stations; using electric plugs only to charge devices (laptops and cellphones), not for large power equipment.

Then, dispose of waste according to classification (organic, inorganic, or B3) in its place; maintain cleanliness, order, and security together while at the station and on train trips.

Then, comply with the provisions of luggage, which is a maximum of 20 kg or a volume of 100 liters per person, with a dimension of at most 70 x 48 x 30 cm.

In addition, complying with the prohibition of carrying certain items, including sharp weapons, firearms, explosives, and hazardous substances; flammable items; and not carrying pets at stations or on trains.

For people with disabilities, KAI provides special wheelchair shelves available at the end of the train. Customers can ask for help from good officers when getting on and off the train," said Ixfan.
