Called To Hambalang, Bahlil Gets An Illegal Mining Ordered Task

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that he received directions from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the control of illegal mines in Indonesia. Moreover, according to him, the mineral and coal sector is actually the largest contributor to non-tax state revenues (PNBP) in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Prabowo while chairing a coordination meeting with a number of ministers at his residence in Hambalang.

"We are talking about downstreaming. It means land arrangement, mining arrangement in forest areas," he told the media crew at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, August 22.

This follows the findings of a Galena mine that operates illegally without having a mining business license (IUP) recently.

"Because there are many, after checking by the Task Force, there are, the IUP is not yet available. Then people have done logging, illegal mining. Now, we have to order this," explained Bahlil.

According to him, Prabowon ordered him to organize illegal mining so as not to damage the environment and earn income from natural resources.

"So that we can protect the environment, but also the state can get income," explained Bahlil.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto revealed that he received a number of reports from law enforcement officials (APH) that until now there are still 1063 illegal mines throughout Indonesia.

For this reason, Prabowo firmly stated that he would curb all mines that have the potential to harm the country by hundreds of trillions.

"After this we will also arrange mines that violate the rules, I have been reported by the authorities that there are 1,063 illegal mines," said Pabowo in his speech at the 2025 MPR and DPR Annual Sessions held at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Friday, August 15.

Prabowo said the potential loss to the state of all mines is estimated at IDR 300 trillion. To eradicate this illegal mine, Prabowo asked the MPR and the DPR as well as all political parties to help the government save the country's wealth.
