Malaysia Dominates The Best Climbing Line In Southeast Asia

JAKARTA - Malaysia has officially earned a reputation as a paradise for climbers. This reputation was obtained because a recent study revealed that 9 of the 10 best-ranked hiking trails in Southeast Asia are in the country.

According to the study by the Exoticca online tour operatur, Malaysia offers some of the most easily accessible and beautiful climbing experiences. These results were obtained after the study analyzed AllTrails data in 11 Asian countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.

"Malaysia has proven to be very popular. The data shows that climbers value a path that combines accessibility with natural beauty," said an Exoticca spokesperson, quoted from Travel + Leisure, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The climbing path in Malaysia that topped the list is Bukit Gasing Circular. This is a circular line of 3.86 km that is thick on Bukit Gasing Forest Park, which is located between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

The line takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, and gets an impressive score of 98.4 out of 100. The climbers praised the moderate mix of the hiking trails, steep stairs, suspension bridges, and elevated platforms.

Another climbing route that is ranked high in Malaysia is Bukit Kiara via Changkat Abang Haji Openg with 96.73 points. This route is known for connecting several green spaces near Kuala Lumpur.

Then there is the Twin Peaks-Quill Killer-Rock Garden-Lower Carnival network which is connected to each other getting 95 points. This network is a 4.66 km forest path system.

Not only that, the shorter climb in Malaysia, namely Ketumbar Hill, also won high points, namely 93.9 points. This line impresses climbers with view of the city and easy access that makes them popular for morning walks.
