Picked Up By Force, Entrepreneur Rudy Ong 'Ngumpet' When Arriving At KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) forcibly picked up the Commissioner of PT Sepiak Jaya Kaltim, Rudy Ong Chandra, today. He is a suspect in the alleged corruption case of mining business licensing (IUP) at the East Kalimantan Provincial Government.

"Today, investigators have forcibly picked up ROC's brother regarding the corruption case in the processing of mining permits in the East Kalimantan region for the 2013-2018 period," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement, Thursday, August 21.

From field observations, Rudy Ong arrived at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta at around 21.36 WIB. He was accompanied by a number of KPK employees.

When he got out of the KPK car, Rudy Ong seemed to hold someone's hand in front of him. His face looked confused when he was about to enter the building.

Not long after, Rudy then hid behind the person so that his face would not be highlighted by journalists. The businessman's hands were handcuffed.

He has actually been summoned on Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, July 29. However, Rudy Ong, who is also a representative of PT Cahaya Bara Kaltim, PT Bunga Jadi Lestari and PT Anugerah Pancaran Bulan, and the 5 percent shareholder of PT Tara Indonusa Coal, was not present.

As for this case, the KPK named two other people as suspects. They are the Governor of East Kalimantan for the period 2008-2013 and 2013-2018 Awang Faroek Ishak and the Chairman of the East Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry who is the daughter of Awang Faroek, Dayang Donna Walfiaries Tania.

However, the KPK has issued an Investigation Termination Order (SP3) for the Awang Faroek case. Because, he died some time ago.

Later, the construction of the case will be submitted by the KPK on Monday, August 25, 2025. Rudy will be detained for the first 20 days at the KPK Detention Center.
