Hutama Karya Completes 42 Projects Since 2013, Absorbs 48,000 Workers

PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has successfully completed 42 projects consisting of 19 irrigation networks and 23 dams from 2013 to 2025.

Some of the projects are already operational and the rest are still in the construction stage.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim explained that all projects that have been carried out are able to absorb 4,800 workers.

In addition to affirming their commitment to strengthening national food security, these projects also have a positive economic and social impact on people in various parts of Indonesia.

"We continue to contribute to building water resource infrastructure which is the backbone of national food security. From Sabang to Merauke, the entire project is able to irrigate more than 125,000 hectares of agricultural land, allowing farmers to increase productivity up to three times the planting period in a year," said Adjib as quoted from his written statement, Tuesday, August 19.

A number of strategic projects by Hutama Karya were recorded as having a big impact on the community.

One of them is the Leuwikeris Dam in West Java, with a capacity of up to 845 million cubic meters, capable of irrigating 11,216 hectares of agricultural land in the North Lakbok Irrigation Area, South Lakbok and Replacement in Cilacap.

In addition to irrigation, the dam functions to control flooding, provide raw water for the people of Ciamis and Tasikmalaya Regencies, as well as have the potential to become a 20 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric power plant (PLTA).

In East Java, the Semantok Dam, which has been operating since 2023, comes with renewable energy innovations.

With a capacity of 32.09 million cubic meters, the dam not only functions for flood and irrigation control, but is also equipped with a Bayu Power Plant that utilizes wind energy.

The presence of the dam helped the people of Nganjuk to be free from flooding due to the overflow of the Semantok River. Meanwhile, the Meninting Dam in West Lombok displays the application of modern construction technology with a capacity of 12.18 million cubic meters and is able to irrigate 1,559 hectares of agricultural land.

As for the irrigation sector, the Rawa Irrigation Network project in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan, which was completed in January 2023, became an important part of the national food estate development.

The network serves 43,503 hectares of agricultural land with floodgate technology and mobile pumps that are tailored to swamp characteristics, making it a strategic foundation for food security in the central Indonesia region.

"The contribution of Hutama Karya's water resources infrastructure is in line with the government's target that out of 7.2 million hectares of technical irrigation land produce 89 percent of rice production, with production growth reaching 6.64 percent," he concluded.
