The Minister Of Home Affairs Allows Pati Residents To Protest Again, But These Are The Conditions

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian reminded the people of Pati Regency, Central Java, not to be anarchic if they want to hold another demonstration.

According to him, expressing opinions is something that is not prohibited. On the other hand, he reminded that the process of the Special Committee (Pansus) by the Pati DPRD regarding the Regent Pati Sudewo is still ongoing.

"I convey that the government is still running, according to the rules of the law, the regent can still run," Tito said after attending the Constitutional Day event at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Monday.

He said that the government in Jember had previously experienced a similar case with Pati, when the impeachment of his regent was processed by the DPRD. However, at that time the government was still running.

In the end, he said, the regent's impeachment was in the hands of the Supreme Court as the final decision maker.

For this reason, according to him, Regent Pati Sudewo needs to be more polite when communicating with the community at this time.

Currently, a number of uploads have been circulating on social media regarding the plan for the Pati Community Alliance demonstration on August 25. Previously, a community demonstration in Pati took place on August 13, 2025, to demand that Pati Sudewo Regent resign from his position.
