Poso Earthquake, Here's To Report More Infrastructure Damage From BPBD
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that infrastructure damage increased to 204 buildings due to earthquake shocks in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng).
"Until now, the Rapid Response Team (TRC) continues to collect field data and the data submitted is still dynamic," said BPBD Disaster Management Officer Poso Sofyan when contacted from Palu, Monday.
He explained that 204 damaged buildings consisted of 101 lightly damaged houses, three moderately damaged houses, 70 heavily damaged, and 30 public facilities in the form of schools, Pontines, village offices and houses of worship.
From this incident, around 14 affected villages/kelurahan namely Tiwaa, Ueralulu, Masamba, Tokorondo, Lape, Bega, Towu, Masani, and Tabalu Villages in Poso Pesisir District. Then Padadalembara Village, Patiwunga, Tangkura, Poso Pesisir Selatan District, and Kilo Village in Poso Pesisir Utara District.
"We received reports that nine victims suffered serious injuries and had undergone surgery at the Poso Hospital, one victim was in critical condition, and another person died on Sunday night," said Sofyan as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, August 18, 2026.
Meanwhile, seven minor injuries were treated at the Poso Hospital, 10 minor injuries received treatment at the Tokorondo Health Center, then 12 minor injuries had been handled at the location by the local Health Office (Dinkes), and eight other minor injuries were treated at the Tangkura Health Center.

"About 89 Poso Hospital patients had to be evacuated in the BNPB tent in the hospital yard because aftershocks were still happening," he said.
The local BPBD appealed to residents to remain calm and the local government (Pemda) continued to update the latest information on the situation on the ground.
The urgent needs in emergency conditions are tents, tarpaulins, tactical lights, blankets, beddings, ready-to-eat food, baby equipment, medicines and supporting operational vehicles.
