Avoid Royalty Payments, PO Bus Select Not Playing Music During Travel

JAKARTA - The chaos of music royalties in Indonesia not only targets the music and performance industry, but also other fields, to the field of public transportation business.

According to VOI's monitoring, a hashtag movement #TransportasiIndonesiaHening appeared on Instagram, where several Otobus (PO) companies decided to no longer provide music screening on their travel services.

PT SAN Putra Sejahtera, which manages PO SAN, in an upload on its official Instagram account, stated that it no longer provides music screening services.

The management of PT. SAN Putra Sejahtera always obeys the rules in PP No. 56 of 2021 concerning the Management of Song and/Music Copyright Royalties on Public Transportation including buses, "wrote PO SAN, citing the description of the upload, Sunday, August 17.

"To avoid violations of the regulations, hereby the management of PT. SAN Putra Sejahtera for the time being will no longer play songs or music on the PO bus. SAN during the trip," he continued.

The decision was taken because the company did not want royalties from music screenings to actually increase their spending, which would result in an increase in travel rates that must be borne by passengers.

"We do this so as not to burden PO customers. SAN with royalty costs in the SAN ticket rate," he said. Hopefully this silence will add to the fabrication of communication during the trip and not reduce our comfort together.

Other companies such as PT Gunung Harta Transport Solutions (GHTS) also voiced the same thing. It was stated that the #TransportationIndonesiaHening movement was part of an effort to comply with the law.

Have you ever thought about why some buses choose not to play music? wrote GHTS. One of the reasons is for comfort during the trip, and another reason is compliance with the law. This is the spirit behind the #TransportasiIndonesiaHening campaign.

By creating a quiet atmosphere, we ensure that you can rest optimally while running business according to the applicable legal corridors and so that ticket purchases are not burdened with additional costs related to royalties.
