Alexander Isak's Status In Newcastle Is Still Hanging, There Is No Change Until Now

JAKARTA - Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe said there was no change in Alexander Isak's situation at the club.

The Magpies don't want to let go of the Swedish striker, but instead marginalize him in the squad. Howe will most likely not include him in the squad for the Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Newcastle has rejected an offer of 110 million pounds from Liverpool for Isak in this transfer market.

"There has been no change (Isak status). My focus is fully focused on Aston Villa tomorrow. Isak's situation has been clear for a long time and will continue to be like that."

"I've always wanted to be there for him. I don't think Isak will play this best without his teammates, supporters. He realized that he was a smart person," Howe said on Friday, August 15, 2025, as reported by ESPN.

Newcastle have only won one of seven pre-season matches. Howe believes rumors of Isak's departure have affected his team.

"At the beginning of pre-season, I have no doubt that this is a difficult time. You can see it from our performance."

"However, the players are mentally strong, their mood is good, recent performances are better. The team reacted well."

"Sometimes these things can have a good effect. We almost won. These things can unite you in ways you didn't expect before," Howe said.

According to Howe, its troops have quietly become stronger after a slow start.

"I'm very happy, this summer was slow. We tried to be active from the start, but that didn't happen. Then you try to turn things into positive."

"Gradually, little by little, we become stronger. We have quality players who come. The front line is not ideal, but we have time," he said.

Meanwhile, Newcastle is rumored to be signing midfielder Jacob Ramsey in the near future to strengthen the team against the new season.
