Zelenskyy: We Rely On America To End The War With Russia
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said meeting of US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska was important to pave the way for "fair peace".
The Putin-Trump meeting is expected by Zelenskyy to also lead to substantive three-way negotiations between the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
"It's time to end the war, and the necessary steps must be taken by Russia. We rely on America," Zelenskyy wrote on the messaging app Telegram.
Presidents Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet at the Cold War-era air force base in Alaska to discuss a ceasefire deal for Ukraine that the US sees as a possible way to end Europe's deadliest war since the Second World War.

Trump said he would not negotiate on behalf of Ukraine at the meeting and would let Kyiv decide whether to engage in a regional exchange with Russia.
"Indeed, the stakes are high. The key is that this meeting should open a real path to fair peace and substantive discussions between leaders in the trilateral format of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia," Zelenskyy said.
This week, Zelenskiy held a meeting with European leaders, and on Friday agreed with the French president to meet after the US-Russian summit.
