Trump Opens Opportunities To Discuss Business With Putin If There Is A War Agreement
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump stressed his good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on his way to Alaska. Trump offers the potential for business discussions with Russia if there is progress towards war peace in Ukraine.
"I noticed he brought in a lot of businessmen from Russia, and that's good. I like that because they want to do business, but they won't do business until this war is over," Trump said at Air Force One.
When asked again if he would discuss business opportunities with Russia, Trump said, "If we make progress, I will discuss it, because that's one of the things they want; they want to get a share of what I build in terms of the economy."
The US president believes something will happen from today's summit in Alaska.
Look, he's a smart guy. He's been doing it for a long time, but so have I. I've been doing it for a long time, and this is what we are: We are presidents," Trump said.
"We get along well. There is a sense of good respect for each other on both sides, and I think, you know, something will happen," Trump said.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Kirill Dmitriev, a senior economic negotiator and head of Russia's state wealth fund, were among those attending talks with Putin.
