Prabowo Prepares IDR 402.4 Trillion For Energy Security In 2026

President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the government has set the energy security budget of IDR 402.4 trillion in the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) design.

Prabowo revealed that fiscal support will be channeled through energy subsidies, tax incentives, new and renewable energy development (EBT), to the provision of village electricity.

"Overall in 2026 the government's fiscal support is IDR 402.4 trillion for energy security," he said in delivering the 2026 RAPBN and Financial Notes, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

For your information, when compared to this year, this figure increased quite significantly. Where based on the 2025 State Budget, the energy expenditure figure is set at IDR 203.1 trillion.

Prabowo also mentioned that the distribution of energy subsidies must be carried out fairly and on target. He said that energy subsidies are not something that is enjoyed by those who are able.

"Energy subsidies must be fair and on target, no longer enjoyed by those who can afford it," he said.

On the other hand, Prabowo targets that 100 percent of electricity sources in Indonesia will come from the use of new and renewable energy (EBT). This target is expected to be realized in the next 10 years.

The EBT sources that will be used to achieve these targets include solar, hydro, and geothermal power.

"We have to achieve 100 percent of power plants from new and renewable energy within 10 years or sooner," said Prabowo.

He said the world had committed to implementing net zero emissions in all sectors by 2060. However, Prabowo believes that Indonesia is able to realize the use of clean energy completely faster.

Beberapa strategi yang akan dilakukan mulai dari meningkatkan produksi minyak mentah siap jual atau lifting, hingga memaksimalkan potensi EBT.

“Saya yakin hal ini bisa dicapai dari target 2060 kita bisa mencapainya jauh lebih cepat,” ucapnya.

Prabowo is optimistic that he can realize self-sufficiency in energy in his leadership period.

Some of the strategies that will be carried out start from increasing crude oil production ready to sell or lift, to maximizing the potential of EBT.

"I'm sure this can be achieved from the 2060 target, we can achieve it much faster," he said.
