Today 100 People's Schools In The First Stage Operate, Minister Of Social Affairs: September Adds 60 Points

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf ensured that as many as 100 first-stage People's Schools were officially operational today, Friday, August 15, 2025.

"As of today, there are 100 points, in September there will also be an additional 60 points. So overall there are 16 thousand People's School students who will start learning from 2025 to 2026," said Saifullah after attending the Government's Introductory / Information Submission on the State Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2026 along with his Financial Note at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan in Jakarta.

The Ministry of Social Affairs as technical implementer emphasized that the operation of the first phase of the People's School was carried out in stages. Previously, 63 points were operating in July, so three points were in Lebak Regency, Banten; Ponorogo Regency, East Java; and Pasuruan City, West Java, which were followed by five points on August 5, as well as 29 other points of People's Schools today.

Saifullah added that the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to consolidate all facilities and infrastructure with other relevant ministries/agencies so that People's School operations run optimally. Facilities prepared by the government include study rooms, dormitories, educational equipment, to technology support such as laptops.

The People's School Program is one of the government's priority programs to reach out to children from families with the lowest welfare level (desil 1-2) in the National Socio-Economic Integrated Data (DTSEN), with the concept of integrated boarding education with health insurance and family economic empowerment.

As President Prabowo Subianto hopes, in his state speech, People's Schools can continue to increase by 200-300 every year so that all children can receive quality education.

"God willing, of course that is what we must carry out, we translate it well. So far, the president has provided a clear direction for the implementation of the People's School to be part of poverty alleviation," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The Indonesian House of Representatives held the Plenary Session for the Opening of the First Session of the DPR for the 2025-2026 Session Year at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday afternoon.

During the event, President Prabowo Subianto delivered a state speech in the context of Submission of Government Introductory / Certificates on the Draft Law (RUU) on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for Fiscal Year 2026 along with its Financial Note.

The agenda for the trial was attended by 473 members who covered all factions of the DPR RI. The chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, opened and closed the trial.

During the event, the leadership of the Red and White Cabinet heads and ministers were present at the Nusantara Building. Some of them include TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, Head of the Supreme Audit Agency Isma Yatun, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Budi Gunawan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.
