Gerindra Strictly Reprimands Regent Pati Sudewo About Arrogance And Controversial Policy

JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Gerindra Party DPP Budisatrio Djiwandowo said Regent Pati Sudewo had been given a strong reprimand from his party leadership for the polemic that was rolling.

"He has been given a strong warning, Mr. President has also paid attention, the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP (Sugiono) has also given a warning," Budisatrio said at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

He also emphasized that his party will continue to monitor and respect the ongoing political process against Sudewo, including the formation of a special committee (pansus) on the right of inquiry by the Pati Regency DPRD.

Although, he continued, he had apologized to the people of Pati.

"Indeed, the constitutional process has started to run, we are monitoring, we listen and of course we are sorry for the attitude and events that have occurred," he said.

He then said, "Hopefully in the future it will be better and God willing, I hope the people of Pati can also answer their disappointments."

He also hopes that similar incidents will not be repeated and experienced by other regional heads in Indonesia.

"We pray that things like this will not happen, the leader's official must serve the people and do not start showing our bad attitude," he said.

According to him, a leader should serve the people in order to gain public trust, as well as provide answers to the aspirations and hopes of the people.

For this reason, Budi reminded that the incident experienced by the Regent of Pati could be a momentum for self-reflection for leaders who sit in government and state institutions to maintain the trust of the people.

"This is an important moment for us to reflect, we remind our colleagues whether they are fellow members of the DPR RI, DPRD, regional heads to continue working for the people and not burdensome and not showing attitudes that cross people's expectations and trust," he said.

This, he added, was as the message conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto in his state speech at the MPR RI Annual Session and the 2025 DPR-DPD RI Joint Session, Jakarta, Friday.

"Earlier, the President had also spoken, we need the public to continue to voice criticism in any form, a creative, constructive form for the progress of the Indonesian nation, we need," he said.

On Thursday (14/8), Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives who is also the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP Sufmi Dasco Ahmad assessed that the formation of a special committee for the right of inquiry to impeach Pati Sudewo Regent by the Pati DPRD had been running according to the corridor.

"We see that processes have been carried out which I think have been carried out by the Pati DPRD," said Dasco at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

He said he respected the ongoing political process, while continuing to pay close attention to the growing dynamics towards Regent Pati Sudewo.

Previously, Regent Pati Sudewo emphasized that he did not resign even though there were demands from a number of protesters, because he was also elected by the people constitutionally and democratically.

"Of course, you can't have to stop and step down with such demands, because everything has a mechanism," he said in Pati (13/8).

He stated that he still respects the ongoing political process in the Pati Regency DPRD, including the right to inquiry submitted by members of the council.

Meanwhile, the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of Pati Regency, Central Java agreed to form a special committee regarding the impeachment of the Regent Pati Sudewo, following a demonstration by Pati residents regarding Sudewo's policy which was considered not to side with the people, such as the increase in Rural and Urban Land and Building Taxes (PBB-P2) by 250 percent.
