"Our case is raising to investigation and naming FM's brother as a suspect," said Head of the Yogyakarta Police Traffic Unit (Kasatlantas) AKP Alvian Hidayat during a press conference at the Yogyakarta Police Headquarters, Friday.
Alvian said the fatal accident occurred at around 04.30 WIB involving a Honda Jazz with the number AB 1943 JV and a motorcycle.
Victim M, who was driving a motorbike, survived and his condition improved, while S, who was riding on a ride, died from a head injury.
"For brother M or motorcyclist, our latest condition has improved. Meanwhile (the body) of the late S is still at Bhayangkara Hospital," he said.
According to witness testimony, he said, the victim was a market hawker trader who lives in the Jalan Imogiri area, Bantul Regency.
Meanwhile, FM is a resident of Klaten, Central Java, who works freely every day.
"He is indeed daily in Klaten, only sometimes his entertainment goes to Yogya," said Alvian.
Based on the results of the analysis of CCTV footage, Alvian said the car driven by FM broke through the traffic light which was still running red. The victim with his motorbike drove after the green light turned on.
Police estimate the car to step on the gas at a speed of more than 80 km/hour.
As a result of the collision, S victim bounced up to 5-6 meters with a height of about 2 meters and died on the spot due to head injuries.
"From the CCTV or the existing crime scene results, there were no signs of braking (cars). So the vehicle seemed to start stopping after the clash point occurred," he explained.
