100 People's Schools Realized, Gus Ipul: 60 Other Points Following September
JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul conveyed the latest developments regarding the People's School (SR) program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.
As of mid-August, there have been 100 People's Schools operating points. The government plans to add 60 points in September 2025.
"Alhamdulillah, as of today there are 100 points (People's Schools). Hopefully in September there will also be an additional 60 points," said Gus Ipul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.
Overall, it was recorded that 16,000 students would start learning at the People's School for the 2025-2026 school year.
In terms of educators, Gus Ipul ensured that the teacher's needs were filled. If a teacher resigns, the government has prepared a replacement.
"We are continuing to consolidate so that we can further complete all the facilities and infrastructure," he said.
"Well, the teachers already exist. If those who withdraw, we don't force them, we respect them. However, we prepare the teachers instead," he concluded.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto said the government had succeeded in building and opening 100 People's Schools (SR). This is the government's effort to break the chain of absolute poverty in Indonesia.
"One of our efforts to break the chain of absolute poverty is to form a People's School (SR). We have succeeded in building and opening 100 SR," Prabowo said in a State Speech at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.
He hopes that there will be 200 People's Schools by 2026 and become 300 units of SR in the following year.
"We hope next year it will be 200, the following year it will be 300 and so on," he said.

Prabowo wants future generations to no longer be included in the poverty line like their parents. Thus, the People's School is expected to be able to break the chain of poverty.
"This is to break the poverty chain for poor children. If their parents are poor, they don't need to continue to be poor. This is what we have tried and are working on now," he concluded.
