BRIN Collaborates With PT Nuon And AGI In Developing GANA Platform

JAKARTA The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) announced the latest partnership with PT Nuon and the Indonesian Game Association (AGI). Through this collaboration, BRIN wants to manage the GANA platform well.

GANA, as short as Game Asset Nusantara, is a platform for collecting, managing, and distributing Indonesian cultural-based game assets. This platform was created to help creators and game developers create local content.

This collaboration is expected to make GANA operate and be managed commercially. Thus, the growth of the game ecosystem in Indonesia can grow faster and can compete globally.

"This aims to accelerate the growth of the game ecosystem in Indonesia and introduce the cultural and natural beauty aspects of the archipelago through the media," said Esa Prakasa, Head of the BRIN Data and Information Science Research Center (PRSDI), quoted on Friday, August 15.

The GANA prototype was launched in October last year. This launch was held at a Coordination Meeting involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

Currently, the prototype has been operated by PT Nuon. Esa explained that the GANA roadmap in the future will continue to be developed. This platform is expected not only to collect 2D and 3D object assets, but also other asset models.

"In the future, GANA's ROadmap will not only collect 2D and 3D object assets, but can be expanded to other types and variations of data functions such as audio, videos, game algorithms, and so on," added Esa.

The assets in GANA are very diverse and are the result of collaboration between BRIN and a Visual Communication Design (DKV) student. The students came from Telkom University, Pasundan University, and Multimedia Nusantara University.

Some of the assets on the landing page are also known to use Artificial Intelligence (AI), but Esa emphasized that this asset is only an illustration and interface decoration. AI-made assets will not be offered in the GANA platform catalog.

"The function is to image the interface display decoration and give an overview, not as a game asset offered in the GANA catalog," Esa explained.
