Continue Commemoration Of National Kebaya Day, Kebaya Tells The Story Of Being Present At The National Museum

JAKARTA - Behind a kebaya, there is the story of an Indonesian woman. That was raised by the Ministry of Culture together with KOWANI and Dharma Wanita through the Kebaya Tells a story' at the National Museum. This agenda continues the commemoration of the National Kebaya Day on July 24, 2025 and bounds the commitment to preservation.

Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized the meaning of UNESCO's acknowledgment of kebaya on December 4, 2024, to the list of Representatives for Takbenda Cultural Heritage, proposed with Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, and Thailand.

"This confession is strategic. Kebaya is a living cultural artifact, the face of our diplomacy in the world," said Menbud Fadli in a written statement received Thursday, August 14. He linked the mandate of the 1945 Constitution Article 32 paragraph (1) with the opportunity to make the global trend kebaya as well as levers of the cultural economy," said Menbud Fadli.

The series of events opened by Rieka Roeslan with Indonesian Kebaya, the monologue of Women Berebaya by Jessica Purboyo, the explanation of Kebaya Goes to International Stage by Putri K. Wardhani, the screening of the documentary, and the cross-generation kebaya parade with 14 models.

Titiek Suharto called the kebaya language without words which honors the dignity of the nation. The General Chairperson of KOWANI, Hannie Hadi Tjahjanto, emphasized that kebaya is a symbol of the identity and unity of Indonesian women.

"Make sure the kebaya continues to live and tell stories," said the Minister of Culture. This initiative emphasizes that kebaya is not just clothing, but narratives, identities, and competitiveness of Indonesian culture.
