JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon signed the Decree on the Establishment of a Study and Restoration Team for the Gunung Padang National Cultural Heritage Site. The decree was handed over directly to Dr. Ali Akbar to lead the team, at the office of the Minister of Culture, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.

Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized that the team is tasked with conducting restoration studies, technical studies, preparation of plans, implementation, and reporting of results. "The focus is to preserve the Mount Padang site so that it remains preserved for future generations," he said.

This ancient site in Cianjur, West Java, has been researched since the colonial era and is recognized as a National Ranking Cultural Heritage. It is estimated that it is thousands of years old. A number of parts are now experiencing natural damage to broken, collapsing, and collapsing rocks which require immediate restoration.

Dr. Ali Akbar said that the restoration began with a scientific study. Gunung Padang has attracted the attention of world scientists. This study is expected to answer many questions as well as protect this historic site. Thank you to the government, especially the Minister of Culture, for the trust given," he said.

Restoration will involve cross-disciplinary experts to ensure each stage is in accordance with scientific principles and can be accounted for. This comprehensive approach is expected not only to improve the physical site, but also enrich the knowledge of past civilizations.

Such as the restoration of Borobudur Temple in the 1980s which became a national pride, the study and restoration of Mount Padang, it is hoped that Fadli Zon can provide benefits for science and add to the series of Indonesian cultural heritage recognized by the world.
