Michael Schumacher's Private Racing Motorbike Sold For IDR 1.4 Billion, Almost Doubled From Predictions
JAKARTA - Despite being known as the seven-time F1 champion, Michael Schumacher also has an in-depth interest in motorcycle racing. He even delayed returning to F1 in 2010 due to a neck injury he suffered in a motorcycle accident in the same year.
Michael Schumacher's best achievement in motorcycle racing was finishing third in one of Germany's superbike racing series (IDM) at the Pannhiria-Ring circuit, Hungary, in 2009. Although not with this auctioned motorbike, the result proves his extraordinary talent in the world of two-wheel racing.
Now, recently Michael Schumacher's Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade has sold out in auction at a fantastic price of 64,800 pounds, or around Rp1.14 billion. This figure is almost double the estimated start of the auction which ranges from 25,000 to 35.000.
According to a report by Motorcyclenews, Wednesday, August 13, the 2010 motorbike was one of the main highlights in Sotheby's online auction in Germany entitled 'The Champions Schumacher and F1 Legends'.
The auction itself features more than 300 items, including signatured gloves, helmets, racing car parts, and various other memorabilia.

The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is not an ordinary bike. This motorbike was specially prepared for the race by Holzhauer Racing Performance (HRP) in Germany. After his first retirement from Formula 1 in 2007, Schumacher used this bike to train on track and even participated in several small superbike races.
This bike is equipped with various quality racing modifications, such as a racing ECU, quickshifter, Akrapovi exhaust, and carbon fairing with livery and Schumacher's number 77. These sales also include a special bonus: a signed Schuberth helmet, a pair of racing gloves, and a special motorcycle sarong.
