5.7 Million Credentials Of The Bocor Asia Pacific Steam Gamer Account, Including Indonesia

JAKARTA - The latest research from the Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence (DFI) team revealed that 11 million game account credentials in the Asia Pacific region were leaked in 2024.

The data shows that 5.7 million Steam accounts were broken into by the infostealer malware, and 6.2 million other accounts that were hacked came from platforms such as Epic Games Store, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect, GOG, and the EA app.

Based on data from log malware files, Kaspersky saw that nearly 163,000 credentials were leaked in Thailand, followed by the Philippines with 93,000 credentials.

Furthermore, Vietnam was in the top three positions with nearly 88,000 credentials leaking, and Indonesia was ranked 4th with a leak of almost 70,000.

Cybercriminals often release stolen log files for months or even years after the initial hack, explained Polina Tretyak, Digital Footprint Intelligence Analyst at Kaspersky.

In fact, Polina added, the credentials stolen years ago could reappear on the dark web forum, which contributes to the increasing amount of information leaked.

"As a result, the number of game accounts that were burglarized is likely to be much higher than those that were immediately seen," he explained.

If you as an individual experience data leakage via infostealers the following steps must be taken immediately:
