Reporting to Prabowo, BGN Says 15 Million Residents Have Received Free Nutritious Meals

JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, reported on the progress of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 12.

Dadana stated that there are 5,103 nutrition service units (SPPG) across Indonesia, serving 15 million beneficiaries.

"The number of beneficiaries is already over 15 million, and God willing, it will approach 20 million," Dadan told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday evening.

Dadana further stated that 14,000 SPPGs have been prepared to serve the MBG program. These SPPGs are the result of partnerships with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Association of Indonesian Muslim Scholars (APJI), and business actors in various regions.

"The most important thing is that there are 5,103 SPPGs registered in our system, and 14,000 SPPGs currently in preparation," he said.

Dadan explained that the budget for building these SPPGs comes entirely from partners. Each SPPG requires between Rp 1.5 and Rp 2 billion to build.

"If you calculate it in monetary terms, what they've done is that one service unit requires approximately Rp 1.5 to Rp 2 billion. So, the money circulating in the community is already trillions, almost Rp 28 trillion, and that's not from the state budget, but from partners," he explained.

Meanwhile, the National Agency for National Development Planning (BGN) has allocated only a budget focused on nutrition interventions. As of August 11, 2025, the state budget realization for the MBG program reached Rp 8.2 trillion.

"So, MBG itself has only absorbed Rp 8.2 trillion, which is focused solely on providing nutrition interventions. Meanwhile, the service units are buildings constructed by partners," he concluded.
