IPhone 17 Air Reportedly Won't Be As Big As Pro Model
JAKARTA - The latest rumors reveal that the iPhone 17 Air, an ultra-thin model that will replace the Plus variant in the iPhone 17 lineup in 2025, will not be as strong as the Pro version.
In a post on Weibo on Tuesday, August 12, famous technology leak Fixed Focus Digital said that the iPhone 17 Air will have almost all Pro configurations, but with some important differences.
One of them is the number of GPU cores in the A19 chip which is less, only five cores, compared to the six cores in the A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 Pro model. In addition, the iPhone 17 Air screen and battery are also said to be not as good as the Pro model.
This information is not new. In July 2025, Fixed Focus Digital also revealed that the iPhone 17 Air will be the only model with an A19 chip and 8GB RAM, the lowest number in the series. Even so, the A19 is said to be still equivalent in speed to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. Apple is even rumored to be more focused on power efficiency to extend battery life instead of chasing raw performance.
Battery And Screen
The iPhone 17 Air ultra-thin design poses a challenge in embedding large-capacity batteries, due to limited space. Some reports even predict that Apple may again present old accessories such as the Apple Battery Case with a bulge on the back, or the MagSafe Battery Pack, which has now been discontinued.

To overcome power constraints without compromising a thin design, Apple is also said to be considering the use of silicon-anode-based new battery technology. This technology is claimed to be able to store about 15% more energy in the same physical size than graphite-based batteries.
From the screen side, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a size of 6.6 inches with a resolution of 2,740 x 1,260 pixels, using Samsung's M14 material. Rumors about the possibility of the ProMotion feature on a non-Pro iPhone still not getting confirmation.
Although the track record of Fixed Focus Digital in leaking Apple's information is not always accurate, it was proven true when it revealed the details of the iPhone 16e. Therefore, this rumor remains interesting to follow ahead of the official launch of the iPhone 17 Air next year.
