IP-CEPA Signed, Export 7,257 Goods Will Be Tariff-Free To Peru

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) revealed that as many as 7,257 Indonesian goods will get free import rates or 0 percent to Peru.

This amount is equivalent to 90 percent of Indonesian products exported to Peru.

Director General of International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade, Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, said this was an implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and Peru (IP-CEPA).

"We will get a preference of more than 90 percent post tariffs in Peru. If this is the case, we will still focus on goods," he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 12.

Even so, Djatmiko said the implementation of the 0 percent import duty for a number of goods exported by Indonesia to Peru would be carried out in stages. He stressed that not all will apply in the same year.

"Yes, each of them is entered into force, some are on the first day, some will be in the 2nd year, and the 3rd year," he explained.

Based on data from the Ministry of Trade, in the period January to June 2025, the total trade between the two countries was USD 264.8 million. This figure is up 34.3 percent compared to the same period in 2024 worth USD 197.1 million. Where exports were recorded at USD 206.4 million and imports worth USD 58.4 million.

In 2024, Indonesia-Peru trade was recorded at USD 480.7 million.

Although small, Indonesia's trade with Peru shows an average of 15.08 percent per year from 2020 to 2024.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's exports were recorded at 331.2 million US dollars and imports worth 149.6 million US dollars.
