Postcards of Hope for Indonesia, Exhibited Ahead of Independence Day
JAKARTA - Ahead of the 80th anniversary of Indonesian independence, ASHTA District 8, Jakarta, is hosting a unique visual artwork exhibition themed around hope for Indonesia's future. The artworks are presented in postcard format, lending an intimate and personal touch to the messages conveyed.
One of the illustrators, Winny Astrini, revealed that the choice of postcards holds deep meaning for her.
"Expressing hope through a medium as small as a postcard makes me feel closer to my audience. For me, this is not just a work of art, but also a form of belonging to Indonesia," she said in a press release for POSCART: Hope for Indonesia, as quoted by ANTARA.
The POSCART: Hope for Indonesia exhibition opened on August 7 and runs until August 17, 2025. Eighty postcard artworks are on display in the main atrium, including eight special illustrations by selected artists that translate aromas into visual works.
Project 1945 Perfumery founder Jeffery Ng explained that Winny was one of the artists given the opportunity to interpret the scent of "Symphonies of Borobudur" into illustrations. The other seven artists are Kevin Satria with "Waters of Maluku," Phantasien with "Princess of Java," Sarkodit with "Fields of Ubud," Nadya Noor with "Heiress of Minahasa," Wulang Sunu with "The Great Batavia," Satwika Kresna with "Sunset in Sumba," and Azis Wicaksono with "Bamboe Roencing."
ASHTA District 8 Senior Manager of the Center Experience, Leonardo, stated that this exhibition is part of the series leading up to the Jakarta Illustration and Creative Arts Fair (JICAF) 2025, which will be held next month.
JICAF 2025 creative director Yoga Prathama added that the third edition of this annual creative festival will highlight the diversity and bold expression of young Indonesian artists.
