Aprilia CEO Boasts: "Only We Can Beat Marquez"
JAKARTA - Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola expressed strong optimism that only his manufacturer could end Marc Marquez's dominance with Ducati.
Up until the midpoint of the 2025 season, Marc Marquez had indeed dominated MotoGP racing. The Spanish rider had claimed 19 wins out of 24 sprint races and grand prix.
This dominance put Marc Marquez far ahead at the top of the standings until the midpoint of the 2025 MotoGP season. With 381 points, Marquez held a 120-point lead over Alex Marquez.
Of the 12 races until the midpoint of the 2025 MotoGP season, only two non-Ducati riders had achieved victory: Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) and Marco Bezzecchi, riding for Aprilia.
However, only Bezzecchi had beaten Marc Marquez in a dry track race (British MotoGP). Bezzecchi even came close to victory at the Czech MotoGP.
Rivola is confident that Aprilia's RS-GP25 motorcycle will continue to develop. The Italian is confident that Aprilia riders Bezzecchi or Jorge Martin can end Marc Marquez's dominance.
"We have a bike that can win. If we fight against a Ducati rider who seems unbeatable (Marc Marquez), I'm sure we can beat him. Especially on some circuits."
"One of them is undoubtedly Austria (Red Bull Ring). It's not one of our favorite tracks, but seeing how Bezzecchi performs and how he adapts to different tracks, I can only be optimistic," said Rivola, as quoted by Marca, Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
The 2025 Austrian MotoGP, held on August 15-17, 2025, will open the second half of the season.
"I can't wait for the second half of the season because I think we're at a good level technically," said Rivola.
