DIY Improves Muslim Friendly Basic Services In Tourist Destinations
YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Tourism Office (Dispar) has prepared to improve Muslim-friendly basic services in various tourist destinations to make this province a world-class Muslim-friendly tourist destination.
Head of the DIY Tourism Office (Dispar) Imam Pratanadi said the effort was part of preparations for the 2025 Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI) assessment.
"Encourage tourist destinations to prepare Muslim-friendly basic services include the provision of halal food, the provision of adequate worship facilities, the provision of clean sanitation," he said when contacted in Yogyakarta, Antara, Sunday, August 10.
In addition, his party also asked the hotel and restaurant industry to immediately take care of halal certification and apply the principle of sustainable tourism.
In addition to preparing Muslim-friendly services, Imam said that DIY has also prepared disability-friendly destinations to realize comfortable services for all tourists in line with the objectives of the 2025 IMTI assessment.
"Preparing disability-friendly destinations, and expanding Muslim-friendly tourism campaigns through events, workshops, and FGD," he said.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that in June 2025 there were 10,424 foreign tourist visits (tourists) and 3.38 million Nusantara tourist trips to DIY. The number of foreign tourist visits rose 7.47 percent compared to May 2025, while the number of Nusantara tourist trips fell 4.59 percent.
The average length of stay for tourists during this period was recorded at 1.54 nights for star hotels and 1.16 nights for non-star hotels.
Previously, the Ministry of Tourism encouraged DIY to realize a world-class Muslim-friendly tourism service as well as to fulfill well the assessment in the Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI) 2025 program.
Deputy for Destination Development and Infrastructure Kemenpar Hariyanto said DIY is one of the destinations that is considered comprehensively by the 2025 edition of IMTI.
In the 2025 edition, IMTI conducted comprehensive assessments in 15 leading provinces, namely Aceh, Riau, Riau Islands, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and DI Yogyakarta.

"This activity in Yogyakarta is kick off the assessment. Although the title of this program is related to the concept of Muslim-friendly tourism, the main objective of this assessment is to improve services to all tourists regardless of the background," said Hariyanto.
