Street Vendors Victims Of Extortion And Thug Beatings At The HI Roundabout Have Reported, Police Are Looking For Perpetrators

JAKARTA - Food vendors who have fallen victims of extortion and thuggery in the HI Roundabout area, Central Jakarta, have made a police report at the Central Jakarta Police Headquarters on Monday, August 11, 2025.

"The victim has made an LP at the Resort Police," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Ruslan when confirmed.

Although the victim has made a report, the police have not succeeded in arresting the perpetrator of the burglary and extortion of the cilok merchant.

"The perpetrator is still being sought. The crime scene (TKP) entered Tanah Abang," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the cilok traders who were victims of bullying and abuse in the HI Roundabout area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, expressed their disappointment with law enforcement officials and the government through video recordings that went viral on social media.

In uploading the disappointment video, the victim complained about the economy that he experienced getting more difficult in 2025.

In addition to feeling the lack of buyers and trade turnover, according to him, he also often gets burglary almost every night while selling in the HI roundabout area, Central Jakarta.

"It's a bad matter of security again. Moreover, it's only been hit every night with thugs. It's really scary. Especially the HI Roundabout area, Sudirman area. Sometimes I think until I'm stressed," complained the cilok trader.
