116 NTB Mataram Residents Indicated For HIV, Mataram Health Office Performs Therapy And Treatment

NTB - Mataram City Health Office, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provides assistance and treatment programs (PDP) for 116 people who are indicated to have contracted HIV/AIDS cases based on data from January-August 2025.

Head of the Mataram City Health Office (Dinkes) Emirald Isfihan said that most of the 116 cases were residents outside Mataram City.

"For the residents of Mataram City, there are 42 people. The rest, from outside Mataram," he said in Mataram, Monday, was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, Mataram City became a reference center for handling HIV/AIDS cases, so when there were findings of cases, officers immediately provided PDP programs through a number of health centers in Mataram City.

Such as at the Dasan Agung Health Center, Karang Pule Health Center, Selaparang Health Center, and others.

During the implementation of the PDP program, officers will provide therapy and medicines in accordance with the standards and special handling procedures for residents of Mataram City.

"Meanwhile, cases of findings from residents outside the city of Mataram, therapeutic activities and PDP are continued in their respective areas," he said.

This means that as a reference center, case findings were indeed recorded in Mataram City, but after being arranged, most of the findings of HIV/AIDS cases came from outside Mataram City.

Related to that, as an effort to anticipate the Health Office through a team at the puskesmas is actively screening infectious diseases because the performance of one of the officers is measured by the discovery of cases.

Moreover, the symptoms of HIV/AIDS cases can be seen after five years so that case findings must be carried out in the first 1-2 years.

"The carrier of this HIV virus is asymptomatic, so it can potentially transmit it everywhere," he said.

Therefore, the public is asked to be vigilant and avoid things that could potentially become transmission of HIV/AIDS cases by avoiding free sex, and the use of syringes for drug abuse which is the largest source of transmission.

Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS symptoms are positive, including the emergence of several diseases such as prolonged diarrhea, weight loss for three months, skin disease, and the presence of fungi in the mouth.

"Therefore, let's apply a healthy lifestyle and avoid things that can have a negative impact on health," he said.
