Governor Khofifah Visits A Household Assistant Who Has Been Abused By Her Employer

SIDOARJO - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa visited AP (10) at the East Java Toddler Care and Social Service UPT in Sidoarjo, East Java.

AP is the son of a household assistant (ART) with the initials EAS (45) who is suspected of being a victim of abuse by her employer.

"I asked the East Java Provincial Social Service to directly monitor the ART suspected of experiencing torture," said Khofifah after visiting AP, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 9.

Khofifah said that currently EAS is still undergoing an examination and post mortem at the East Java Regional Police Bhayangkara Hospital and the healing process.

"Because on the ART body, there are many scars on both the hands, feet, and back," she said.

She said, apart from providing assistance to her parents, the government also provided assistance to her children at the shelter and social services.

"Because the child is 10 years old, maybe it is traumatic because there is an allegation of torture in front of the child's eyes," she said.

Khofifah said basically everything needed counseling so that there was no unwanted trauma for the child.

"In fact, we also provide a pink doll according to the child's request. Because when we asked if we wanted a pink doll, and also wanted to go to school," she said.

Khofifah ensured that assistance by a psychologist included giving reading books to the child, because he was already good at reading.

"We provide the best possible assistance so that everything can run well, and the teaching and learning process can be carried out immediately in the new academic year," said Khofifah.

Previously, EAS was suspected of being the victim of violence perpetrated by her employer. Currently, the victim is receiving intensive care.

Ironically, the employer brought the victim to the Keputih Social Cottage (Liponos), East Java on the grounds that EAS had a mental disorder.
