Bengkulu City Government Ensures Residents Take Advantage Of The Waste Bank Program

BENGKULU CITY - Bengkulu City Government Bengkulu Province ensures that all people take advantage of the waste bank program which until now operates well in 67 urban villages in the area.

"The government appreciates the initiative of residents who have used the Waste Bank as an effort to reduce the volume of waste dumped into the final disposal site -TPA-," said Bengkulu Deputy Mayor Ronny PL Tobing in Bengkulu, Saturday.

Therefore, through the waste bank program, it can motivate the public to care about the surrounding environment, because in the waste bank residents can sort organic and inorganic waste, balance, and record systems carried out by the management.

Bank sampah merupakan salah satu program yang sejalan dengan visi pemerintah Kota Bengkulu untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang bersih, sehat dan membuat kota ini bebas dari sampah.

Previously, as many as 67 urban villages in the region currently have waste banks to support government programs in more organized and efficient waste management.

Because, through a waste bank, it can become a commercial collection, reuse and recycling system. This concept is considered effective as a solution to overcome waste problems while providing economic value.

"Let's be aware of the waste in the household, whether it's plastic waste, wet waste, dry, organic and inorganic waste. Now, we can process organic ones into compost, it can be fertilizer," said Bengkulu Mayor Dedy Wahyudi.

He mentioned that with the waste bank at the village level, it is hoped that the amount of waste entering the Final Disposal Site (TPA) can be significantly reduced.

This is because, through this waste bank, people can effectively sort and recycle waste, reduce waste disposal to the TPA, whose current condition has exceeded capacity or overloaded.

Through the creation of a waste bank, it can reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, because the concept of a waste bank is a commercial collection and recycling system, such as selling or recycling.

Therefore, Dedy explained that there is a number of waste that has use or economic value, therefore the public must be aware of waste management, because waste problems or problems are shared responsibility, not only the government.
