Shin Tae-yong Targets Three Wins In World Cup Qualifiers

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong is targeting his squad to win the last three Group G matches of the 2022 World Cup Qualification for the Asian zone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June 2021.

"Our target is to win in the three matches. We will work hard to make it happen," said Shin, as quoted from the PSSI TV Youtube channel in Jakarta, Sunday, May 9.

Furthermore, the South Korean tactician considers that a maximum appearance on the field does not only have the potential to generate three points, but also raise hope.

The hope is that Indonesian football will be better after being disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We want to show that this team continues to grow and that Indonesia has hope for the future," said Shin.

The Indonesian national team is holding a training camp (TC) at the Gelora Bung Karno Intermediate Stadium, Jakarta, starting May 1, 2021, which is the preparation for the 2022 Asian zone World Cup Qualification.

Adam Alis and his friends will undergo the last three matches in Group G of the 2022 World Cup Qualification, which will all take place centrally in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June.

The Garuda squad will fight Thailand on June 3, 2021, then Vietnam on June 7, 2021, and the United Arab Emirates on June 11, 2021.

Prior to that, the Indonesian national team will face two trial matches in the UAE, namely facing Afghanistan on May 25 and Oman on May 29, 2021.

Although the national team is certain to not be able to continue its work in the 2022 World Cup Qualification because they always lose from five Group G matches, PSSI wants the national team to achieve the best results in the three remaining matches.
