Builder In West Aceh Kills Employer Because Wage Is Not Appropriate, Arrested In Bengkulu

MeULABOH - Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the West Aceh Police arrested MJ (35), a builder from Srimulyo Village, Anak Ratu Haji District, Central Lampung Regency, after being on the run after killing his employer, Khairuddin (65), at a house in Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency, last Tuesday, July 29.

West Aceh Police Chief AKBP Yhogi Hadisetiawan said the suspect was arrested on Sunday, August 3 by personnel from the Bengkulu Police Resmob Unit while on the run, and has now been detained at the West Aceh Police Headquarters.

"The perpetrator has been picked up from Bengkulu and we are currently holding him for further legal proceedings," said Yhogi to reporters in Meulaboh, Antara, Friday, August 8.

Previously, Khairuddin, a resident of Drien Rumpot Village, Krueng Barona Jaya District, Aceh Besar District, was found dead covered in blood at his house where he worked in Lorong Kuini, Ujong Baroh Village, Johan Pahlawan District.

It is suspected that the victim was killed by MJ, who worked as a ceramic craftsman at the victim's house. After killing, the suspect fled by taking away a Toyota Rush with police number BL 1628 NM belonging to Khairuddin towards Medan, North Sumatra.

In pursuit, the perpetrator hit two members of the Karo Police and a resident in Karo Regency, until the victim's car hit a wall in the Sibolangit area, North Sumatra.

According to the Police Chief, MJ admitted that he was desperate to kill Khairuddin because he was hurt by the payment of salaries that did not match the agreement.

"The perpetrator hit the victim using a crowbar in the house," explained Yhogi.

During his escape, MJ moved vehicles, including riding trucks and public transportation, until he was finally arrested in Bengkulu City.

In this case, the police secured a number of pieces of evidence, including one Toyota Rush car, one 43 centimeter long iron thread, one unit of Redmi 5A cellphone, as well as clothes and shoes belonging to the victim.

MJ was charged with Article 340 in conjunction with Article 339 in conjunction with Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder, with the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum imprisonment of 20 years.

"The perpetrator will be legally responsible for his actions," said the Police Chief.
