Barito Market Traders Hold Action Rejecting Relocation Impact Of Pusaka Flag Park Project
JAKARTA - A number of traders from Pasar Barito in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, held an action against the relocation plan due to the Pusaka Flag Park development project which will unite three parks in the area.
"The action is scheduled to take place starting at 09.00 WIB in front of Pasar Barito, Jalan Mahakam, Taman Langsat, South Jakarta," said a member of the Barito Market Traders Advocacy Team from the Solidarity of Market Traders (SP3), Fahmi Akbar, in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, August 8.
According to Fahmi, the relocation plan has a serious impact on the sustainability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have been living on trading in the area.
He assessed that the revitalization of Barito Market in 2023, which spent a budget of around Rp. 1.6 billion from the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget, should be used to support people's economic activities, instead of being replaced by new projects.
"So we, a combination of Barito Market traders and civil society, support the economic rights of the people as mandated by the Constitution Article 27 of the 1945 Constitution," said Fahmi.
The action, which was followed by traders and the community, brought a number of demands. They asked that the Pusaka Flag Park project, which is considered not urgent, be stopped immediately, reject all forms of intimidation against traders, and urge the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to side with MSME actors.
