Pati Regent Clarifies '50 Thousand People Demo Please' Viral Video: I Don't Want To Challenge The People
JAKARTA - The Regent of Pati, Central Java, Sudewo, expressed clarification on his remarks inviting 50,000 people to demonstrate related to the increase in land tax rates and rural and urban buildings (PBB-P2) to 250 percent.
Sudewo's video statement went viral and sparked residents' actions to support demonstrations next week.
"I just want to convey that the action is orderly and purely as conveying aspirations, not being ridden by certain parties," said Regent Pati Sudewo as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 7.
Regent Pati emphasized that the increase in land and urban and urban tax rates (PBB-P2) to 250 percent is the maximum limit and is not enforced for all tax objects.
"Many have increased by 50 percent, because an increase of 250 percent is not the average increase that applies to all taxpayers," he said.

According to him, the 250 percent figure is the highest limit in effect, but in reality, many taxpayers only experienced an increase below 100 percent, even 50 percent.
"If there are those who object to an increase of up to 250 percent, I will review it again," he said.
Regent Pati Sudweo also apologized for the riots on Tuesday (5/8).
According to him, the district government has no intention of confiscating the goods of the action participants, but only wants to move these items so as not to interfere with the members of the Pati Regency Anniversary and the August 17, 2025 activities.
