Prime In The Middle Of Civil War, Sudanese Prime Minister Visits Foreign Affairs To Egypt
JAKARTA - Sudan's Prime Minister (PM), Kamil Idris arrived in Egypt on Thursday 7 August. This became Idris' first overseas visit after taking office in May 2025 amid a civil war that still hit Sudan.
According to Sudan's state news agency, SUNA, quoted via AFP, Idris is scheduled to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi
Idris, who is a career diplomat and former UN official, is also planned to meet his Egyptian partner, Mostafa Madbouly.
The two will discuss ways to increase bilateral Egyptian-Sudan cooperation in various fields.
Egypt is known to support Sudan's military leadership since the war erupted in April 2023.
This civil conflict in Sudan is between two military factions, namely the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by the Sudanese military government and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
As it raged, the RSF quickly seized most of Sudan's capital, Khartoum. However, after months of city war, Khartoum was again seized by the Sudanese military in March 2025.
