The Practice Of Online Prostitution At The Wamena Jayawijaya Hotel Was Dismantled, 4 Allegedly PSKs Were Secured

PAPUA MOUNTAINS - Police revealed the practice of covert prostitution in Wamena City, Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains. At least four women suspected of being commercial sex workers (PSK) were secured from a hotel in Wamena City.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jayawijaya Police, AKP Sugarda AB Trenggoro, said the four women were suspected of being involved in online prostitution.

This action was carried out after reports from the public suspected the existence of online prostitution practices at the hotel were reported. Responding to this information, PPA unit personnel immediately moved to the location to carry out local control," he said in a statement, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

He added that the four women were secured from two different rooms. They were immediately interrogated on the spot.

"We have secured the four women from two different hotel rooms and we have carried out initial interrogations. They admit to working as prostitutes while in Wamena," he said.

He mentioned the identities of four women who were secured by the PPA unit of the Jayawijaya Police Criminal Investigation Unit, including AP (24), K (29), N (23) and A (24). Based on information from two of them (N and A) have been in Wamena since July 31, 2025, while the other two (AP and K) arrived on August 1, 2025.

They are known to have come to Wamena facilitated by a man with the initials Y who is currently still in Makassar. The telephone number in question has also been pocketed by the police as material for further investigation," he said.

He added that his party had given an appeal to the women to stop prostitution activities and suggested that they immediately return to their area of origin.

"We are committed to eradicating prostitution and criminal acts of trafficking in persons in the jurisdiction of the Jayawijaya Police. The public is also advised to continue to play an active role in providing information if they know of any indications of disturbing illegal activities," he said.
