Pakistani Police Car Bomb Explosion Kills 2 Officers, 14 Others Injured

JAKARTA - A bomb attack on a police car at a former Taliban base in Wana City, South Waziristan, Pakistan, has killed at least two officers.

14 injured victims were reported, most of whom were pedestrians.

Citing AP, Thursday 7 August, the bomb exploded on the side of the road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan's northwestern region, which is turbulent and bordered Afghanistan on Wednesday local time.

The militant violence has escalated in recent weeks, claiming the lives of dozens of security personnel in Pakistan.

Responding to the increasing conflict, Pakistan is preparing to carry out military operations, especially in Bajur, another northwestern district.

Prior to the military operation, community leaders had negotiated with the government to avoid conflict with the authorities.

Military operations against militants several years ago Pakistan had displaced thousands of residents.
