Lars Ulrich Discusses Metallica's Possibility Of Appearing In Las Vegas Sphere And Super Bowl

JAKARTA - After rumors emerged regarding the Metallica residential concert in Las Vegas Sphere, Lars Ulrich (drums) finally opened his voice on this possibility.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern on Sirius XM, the 61-year-old drummer did not want to confirm anything, but did not deny Metallica's interest in appearing on the futuristic venue that could accommodate up to 20,000 spectators.

"I will not confirm anything, because nothing needs to be confirmed. But I will not deny it, because we are all big fans of this place," said Lars Ulrich.

The drummer continued, a team from Metallica had visited Sphere to see the possibility of a residential concert. But the certainty still has to wait.

"All our production managers and staff have come there and reviewed it. That is something we are considering, (but) nothing is certain or approved. That is something we considered when the 2026 tour was over," Ulrich said.

"I really want to do it, no doubt. The show hasn't been signed, sealed, and delivered, but after talking to me and asking my opinion, I really want to do it," he added.

Not only the possibility of a residency in Sphere, Ulrich also talked about the possibility of Metallica appearing for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show which will take place at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, San Francisco.

"Of course we are interested (to appear at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show)," replied Lars. "First of all, we will. Second, doing so in San Francisco will be a dream come true and will be very precise."

"Of course, as someone who has represented San Francisco around the world and for decades voiced San Francisco and our love for the Bay Area, it is indeed the right one. In the end, it was not our decision," he said.
