Although Allowing Outside Residents To Register As Firefighters, Pramono: Of Course The Priority Is Jakarta Residents
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung allowed residents outside Jakarta to register as firefighters (damkar) when the recruitment process was opened.
This led to a critical reaction from the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Although residents outside the region may participate in the selection of officers from the DKI Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Pramono emphasized that this recruitment is still prioritized for Jakarta residents.
"Yes, of course, the main priority is Jakarta residents. But Jakarta is an open city. It's not allowed to then limit anyone. If asked who is the main priority? Yes, Jakarta residents," said Pramono in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 7.
In addition, there were reports of allegations of illegal levies (extortion) from the plan to open a recruitment of firefighters in Jakarta. Responding to this, Pramono denied it.
"That's not true. There is no (extortion). I guarantee that it doesn't exist," said Pramono.
Pramono admitted that he did provide flexibility to the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Office to carry out the selection process. Where, the DKI Provincial Government in the near future will open the recruitment of 1,000 firefighter positions in this year's formation.
However, Pramono emphasized that the process was transparent because registration was done online.
"If the position of the fire department is fully held in the fire department (Dinas Gulkarmat) and because the performance of the firefighters is very good. I frankly give full trust to the firefighters," explained Pramono.
"But later, the finalization will be transparent for governors, deputy governors, to see and be involved in it," he added.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Alia Noorayu Laksono, asked Pramono to prioritize the opening of employment opportunities for Jakarta residents. This is related to the plan to open vacancies for DKI firefighters.
"The residents of DKI are still prioritized. Maybe the percentage is 10 percent of residents outside DKI, the rest are DKI residents. It can be arranged with the Governor and the team but the point is still prioritizing providing jobs for Jakarta residents," explained Alia.
