Local Medical Devices Are More Confident Ready To Compete With Imported Products

JAKARTA - The medical device industry in Indonesia has shown significant developments. In recent years, domestic producers have become increasingly confident in displaying innovation and self-made technology that is no less than foreign products.

Chairman of GAKESLAB Indonesia, RD. Kartono Dwidjosewojo, emphasized the importance of supporting domestic production.

"We are already in the country, many domestic producers. This exhibition event, various social service regions see us as different from the previous year, don't always buy abroad, but look at domestically," said RD Kartono, when met at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

According to him, the quality of domestic medical devices has now started to match imported products.

"We are trying to make our work can be specifications, the quality is the same as abroad. This has been proven from a new factory, all have high quality and follow the rules from abroad," he added.

Not only to meet domestic needs, the national medical device industry has also begun to expand its overseas market.

"For a long time, exports, stethoscopes, beds, and other medical items have not only been high-tech, but also medium-tech," said RD Kartono.

He also emphasized that its members continue to develop products so that they can compete globally.

"We can make foreign exchange export goods abroad," he said.

One of the newest technologies introduced is the CT Scan service to detect TB.

"We have CT Scan launched, there is cooperation, especially based on data from TB," explained RD Kartono.

However, he reminded that challenges still exist. Not all domestic products can easily enter the local market because there is still a better perception of imported goods.

"Until the target of 70% is Idya-ndam, but not all goods enter the country," he said.

He invited all parties to open their eyes and give greater space to local products that are now ready to compete.

International-scale annual events held in Jakarta are an important meeting point between manufacturers of medical devices and users of health services, such as hospitals and clinics from all over Indonesia.

"This exhibition is a meeting point for manufacturers and users of health services, hospitals in Indonesia," said RD Kartono.

Chief Executive Officer of Krista Exhibitions, Daud D. Salim, who is the organizer of this activity, stated that the exhibition is a strategic platform to encourage the growth of the national health industry.

"We hope to encourage the growth of the domestic medical device industry while strengthening Indonesia's position on the map of the global health industry," he said.
