Gus Nur Gets Presidential Amnesty, No Longer Mandatory To Report To Malang Fathers

JAKARTA - The Malang Class I Correctional Center (Bapas) did not impose a mandatory report to Sugi Nur Raharja or Gus Nur who had been convicted of a case of alleged fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, after receiving amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto.

"The point is that Gus Nur is no longer absent at the Malang Class 1 Fathers. For the symbolic (submission) of the president's decision (Number 17 of 2025) today," said Head of the Guidance Section of the Malang Class I Fathers Adult Client Sofia Andriani in Malang City, East Java, Wednesday, confiscated by Antara.

He also explained that the guidance program for Gus Nur, which actually runs until May 1, 2027, but with an amnesty as of August 1, it was terminated as of August 2, 2025.

"Incidentally Gus Nur is currently undergoing his conditional release period, becoming a client of Fathers. Since August 2, we have ended his guidance period," he said.

Sofia explained that the amnesty was proposed by the Class I Detention Center of Surakarta, Central Java, where Gus Nur was detained.

After being approved, his party received a copy letter from the proposer's place regarding the granting of amnesty from President Prabowo.

"The gust informed that Gus Nur received amnesty, so we as the advisor are obliged to end," he said.

He added that he would continue to communicate with Gus Nur, including working together to provide enlightenment to other Class I Malang Fathers clients.

"We will jointly provide personality guidance, because Gus Nur also has a foundation," he said.

Meanwhile, Gus Nur said that he would change the way he conveyed income and criticize in a more polite way.

This change of attitude is based on input from the family, especially the child.

"Not only other people but also from my child, I also advise, if possible, continue to use polite language," said Gus Nur.

Gus said that a man who is a husband and father must be able to reduce his ego in front of his family.

"With my wife and children, I have to lower my ego, my family wants to remain firm but polite," he said.
