Exception Rejected, Session Of Brigadier Ade Kurniawan Who Killed His 2 Months Baby Continued To The Basic Case

SEMARANG - The Semarang District Court (PN) rejected the exception or objection note filed by Brigadier Ade Kurniawan, a member of the Central Java Regional Police, on charges by the public prosecutor in a case of alleged abuse that caused the death of a two-month-old baby.

The verdict was conveyed in a trial held at the Semarang District Court, Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

"Decided that the defendant's exception was unacceptable, ordering the public prosecutor to continue the examination of the case on behalf of the defendant Ade Kurniawan," said Chief Judge Nenden Riska Puspitasari before the trial quoted from Antara.

In their consideration, the panel of judges stated that the prosecutor's indictment had been carefully, clearly, and completely prepared. The indictment is also considered to have met the formal and material requirements, including the description of the time, scene of the case, and the defendant's actions.

With the rejection of the exception, the trial will continue to the main examination stage of the case with the agenda of hearing witness statements from the public prosecutor at the next trial.

Brigadier Ade Kurniawan was charged with a criminal act of violence against a child that caused the death of a baby with the initials NA, who is his own biological child.

In the indictment, the prosecutor explained that this case began when the defendant became acquainted with the victim's mother, DGT, in 2023. The two then lived together in a rented house in the Palebon area, Semarang City.

When the DGT became pregnant, she asked the defendant to take responsibility by marrying her. However, the request was rejected. The defendant, who felt pressured, then committed several times of violence against the NA baby.

The persecution first occurred in March 2025. Based on the results of the exhumation, the cause of death of the victim was a blunt object collision in the head that caused a brain hemorrhage.

Atas perbuatannya, Brigadir Ade Kurniawan dijerat dengan Undang-Undang Nomor 35 Tahun 2014 tentang Perlindungan Anak, atau Pasal 338 KUHP tentang pembunuhan, atau Pasal 352 KUHP tentang penganiayaan yang mengakibatkan kematian.

For his actions, Brigadier Ade Kurniawan was charged with Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, or Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning murder, or Article 352 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution that resulted in death.
