The Air Quality Of 10 US States Exacerbated The Impact Of Forest And Land Fires On Canada

JAKARTA - The air quality of 10 US states deteriorated as land and forest fires (karhutla) hit Canada.

Citing ABC News, moderate to thick smoke is expected to continue to blanket 10 US states on Wednesday 6 August.

Air pollution red status alerts take effect tomorrow for parts of the US states including Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming.

A number of these areas experienced dry conditions, low humidity, plus strong winds caused the potential for forest and land fires to spread quickly.

This happens when 741 forest and land fires continue to occur in Canada, with 304 points of which are "out of control" status.

As a result of forest and land fires hitting Canada, more than 16 million hectares of land this year -- more than double the average fire in the country's 10 years.

This is the third most destructive year of forest and land fires in Canada based on the area of land burned since recording began in 1983.
