Airlangga: Indonesia's Economic Growth Quarter II-2025 Exceeds Malaysia, Singapore, And The US

JAKARTA - Indonesia's economy in the second quarter of 2025 grew by 5.12 percent on an annual basis or year-on-year (yoy).

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the performance of economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 was quite solid and higher than a number of other countries.

"If we look at our economy, we are still solid and indeed our plan is in the second semester, we are targeting the target at 5.2 percent to be achieved, but what was announced this morning, thank God we are back on track 5 percent, so it's 5.12 percent," he said at a press conference, Tuesday, August 5.

Airlangga also emphasized that Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 was only under China and managed to surpass several countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States (US).

"Indonesia is only below China, which is 5.2 percent. Some countries below us start from Malaysia, Singapore, then various other countries including the US are 2 percent, then Korea is also relatively low, so among the G20 countries and ASEAN, we are one of the highest," he said.

For information from the business field side, the sector that experienced the highest growth was; Other Services 11.31 percent; Company Services 9.31 percent; Transportation and Warehousing 8.52 percent; and Provision of Accommodation and Drinking Food 8.04 percent.

Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, almost all components recorded growth, except for government consumption which contracted by 0.33 percent.

Meanwhile, the highest growth was recorded in the Export of Goods and Services 10.67 percent; Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (LNPRT) 7.82 percent; Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) 6.99 percent; Household Consumption 4.97 percent; Goods and Services Imports (GDP-reducing Factors) 11.65 percent.

"The government's consumption compared to last year was minus 0.33 percent because last year there was an election so that the government spending was big," said Airlangga.
