Elon Musk Finds Video Archives Vine, Promises Access For Other Users

JAKARTA - Elon Musk said he was trying to bring back Vine's archive, after hinting at the return of the social platform for the past week or so.

In a post on X, SpaceX and Tesla owners said that the company recently found the entire video archive of the short video app and was working to restore user access.

"By the way, we just found the Vine video archive (which we thought was deleted) and are working on getting user access back, so you can repost if you want," Musk wrote.

Grok Imagine is AI Vine!

Btw, we recently found the Vine video archive (throught it had been delayed) and are working on restoring user access, so you can post them if you want.

For information, Twitter acquired Vine in 2012. But unfortunately, this short video app similar to TikTok did not last long, and was officially discontinued in full in early 2017.

Musk said that X users would be able to upload this Vine, but it's just an archive. In other words, this doesn't sound like a revival for the actual platform.

However, it is not clear what Musk meant to do this. He also has not explained further details about how it works, and how users can regain their archives from Vine.

On the other hand, a federal appeals court in the United States ruled that social media platform X should face some lawsuits accusing the company of negligence in handling videos of child sexual exploitation on its platform.

This ruling was issued by the 9th US Court of Appeals in San Francisco on Friday, August 1, which ruled that although X is widely protected by the Communications Conduct Act (Communications Decency Act) Article 230 which provides immunity to the content posted by users of the platform remains responsible for allegations of negligence after they become aware of the existence of the explicit content.

This case began before Elon Musk acquired Twitter in 2022. The lawsuit was previously rejected by a first-degree court judge in December 2023.

But now, the lawsuit has been revived by an appeals court decision. Elon Musk himself has not been a defendant in this case, and legal representatives X have not commented.
