Mahfud MD Surprised There Is A Figure Sentenced To 1.5 Years In Prison Since 2019 Not Executed By The AGO

JAKARTA - Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Mahfud MD was surprised that the figure who had been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison since 2019 was not executed.

"Many are surprised. A person who has been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison since 2019 has not been thrown into prison until now," Mahfud wrote in his X account, Tuesday, August 5.

Mahfud did not explain who he mentioned and the case that ensnared him. Instead, he encouraged that the court's decision should be followed up by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) which has a Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur) in charge of arresting convicts to fugitives who are still on the loose.

Based on his records, the AGO's Tabur team was quick to arrest fugitives, even those hiding in Papua. However, he questioned why this figure was not followed up by the AGO.

"The convict said he had undergone a legal process and had reconciled, apologized to each other with Mr. JK (Jusuf Kalla). Loh, what legal process has been carried out?" Mahfud said.

Many were surprised. A person who has been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison since 2019 has not been thrown into prison until now. Even though the Attorney General's Office has a Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur), which in 2025 has arrested many people, including those hiding in Papua. What is it?

The former Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs of Indonesia under the era of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo emphasized that although the figure had agreed to peace with the victim, the court's decision handed down to the defendant had to be executed.

"After all, since when can the criminal court verdict be reconciled with the victim? The verdict that has been inkracht cannot be reconciled. It must be executed," he said.
