Senior Journalist And Managing Director Of Tempo Toriq Hadad Dies

JAKARTA - The sad news came from the country's media industry. Toriq Hadad or known as the President Director of PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk, passed away on Saturday, May 8.

Toriq died at the age of 60. Toriq first joined Tempo as a reporter after earning a bachelor's degree in agriculture at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) in 1984.

Throughout his career, he served as Head of Bureau in East Java (1987-1989) and Head of the Jakarta Bureau (1992-1994). In 1995, together with a number of other journalists, Toriq founded the online news site Tempo Interaktif, which was a response to the banning of Tempo by the Suharto regime at that time.

In 2005, he was appointed editor-in-chief of Koran Tempo. A year later, in 2006 to be precise, Toriq led the Tempo Magazine as well as became the Director of PT Tempo Inti Media Tbk. Until then in 2017, this Surabaya-born man was appointed as the main director.
